Finally, I thought I would bring up the option of self insuring. If your house is paid for, you are not required by any government agency or private company to maintain insurance, and you have enough savings to replace your house in the event of a total loss, than this is an option. I do it for my personal tiny house, but I have less than $18k invested in my house, not counting my time, and for me it works fine.
