Happy Fall! It has been quite some time since I’ve done anything to this poor neglected website. Truth be told, I’ve had so many builds and inquiries come my way in 2025 that I just haven’t had the time.
For some weird reason, I get lots of emails about new builds come mid October, and this year was no different. This prompted me to hop on the site and pen out this little newsletter to clarify a few things.
First and foremost, if you have not heard, Rocky Mountain Tiny Houses is officially a state of Colorado approved Tiny Home Manufacturer. I worked long and hard last winter to get all my ducks in a row for this certification process. I received word back in early March that my application had been approved.
Shortly thereafter, I set out to get the 1st design in to plan review, pass this, then got my hands dirty building our first certified unit. It passed final inspection in August. Unbeknownst to me at the time, it was actually the first tiny home to successfully make it through the new state process. I was hopeful, as Colorado’s oldest tiny home builder, that I could be the first to make it to this point, but did not think it would happen as I was informed a few other builders had already signed up with the program. I trudged along anyways, and in the end, did accomplish that goal.
So, if you are looking to place a tiny home in Colorado, you will need state certification and we can do it! State certification does add expense over a normal build-both in administrative and building costs due to certain code requirements.
Next is timeline. I’m currently booked til September 2026 for a START DATE. If you need a build sooner, I’m sorry I cannot help and you will need to look elsewhere.
I’m short handed in the office these days. If you are interested in consulting, I can still assist you as long as the consult is 4 hours or less. If you are interested in custom plans, I personally do not have the bandwidth to do them, however my former office manager might have availability to help you. I am happy to connect you if interested.
I do have some cool new builds that maybe one day will get posted here online, but for now my nose is to the grindstone. Thanks for checking in!
