Powered By The Sun

Rocky Mountain Tiny Houses is powered by the sun! Well, mostly. The Tiny House that I live in also doubles as my office space. I spend much time here doing important stuff like designing, talking over the phone, replying to emails, maintaining this website, research, and playing on facebook. The house, and hence a good portion of the business, are 100% powered by the sun using a few solar panels and a solar “caddy” that shelters all of the electrical equipment and battery bank. It generates enough watts to meet all of my living and office needs, and sometimes there is enough left to operate power tools. The rest of my electrical needs are met by the grid. Someday, when business is really booming I hope to invest in a larger system that can power my entire operation.

The sun powers me in more ways than electricity. It keeps me warm, both physically and emotionally. It allows all kinds of cool stuff to sprout and flourish that I can eat and be sustained nutritionally. It allows coffee beans to grow, which I grind with solar electricity each morning to start the day out right.

When the sun is shining and the trails are dry, those warm temps beckon me to go for a mid day ride. When it’s a blue bird day out following a big dump of snow from a storm that was the ultimate result of solar radiation upon the Pacific ocean (and other complex phenomenons related to jet streams, polar vortexes, black holes, and other things beyond my understanding) , I am called by the sun to go bust the pow pow.

The sun is the source of all life on Earth as we know it. I’m so happy I’ve figured out a way to harness it to power this business!
